Reverse Journaling
Start from done.
Write your goal as if it is already done. Picture the life it creates. Name what could stop you. Then work backward to the one thing you do today.

How Start From Done compares
A diary
Records what happened. Useful, but it never tells you what to do on Tuesday morning.
A to-do list
Grows faster than you can finish it, and mostly shows you what is still undone.
Start From Done
Begins at the finish line and walks back to one action you can take before tonight.
How it works
Four steps. Two minutes to your first plan.
No blank page. The app asks, you answer, and your finish line becomes today's first move.
Your goal, in the past tense
"It is October 2027. I delivered the keynote." Writing it finished gives you a clear target instead of a vague wish.
The obstacle, and your if-then plan
"If I open my phone at 9pm, then I rehearse one slide first." This is the step most manifestation apps skip.
Milestones from done to now
What had to be true before the finish, then before that, all the way back to today. The path is built in reverse, so it always ends at a next step.
A 45-minute sprint, then proof
Do the step in a focused sprint. Every finished sprint and milestone lands on your Done list, so you can see your progress.
Why it works
Most manifestation apps stop at the dream. That is where effort drops.
Psychologist Gabriele Oettingen found that picturing only the happy ending can lower the energy people put in. Pairing the picture with the obstacle and a specific if-then plan, called mental contrasting with implementation intentions, has much stronger support.
So Start From Done keeps the part that feels good, seeing your goal already done, and adds the part that gets it done. Then it keeps score, because progress you can see is one of the strongest motivators at work, according to Teresa Amabile's research.

Questions
What is Start From Done?
Start From Done is a Reverse Journaling app. You write your goal as if it is already done, name what could stop you, and the app works backward to the one thing you do today.
How do I download it?
Tap Get the app. On Android and desktop Chrome it installs in one tap. On iPhone, tap Share in Safari, then Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen like any app. App Store and Google Play versions are planned.
Is it free?
Yes. The core loop is free: your Done state, your if-then plan, the backward plan, 45-minute sprints, the future-self log and your Done list. Pro is coming with AI new life scenes, the 369 Forward ritual and the Time Capsule.
Is my journal private?
Everything you write stays on your device. There is no account, and nothing you write is sent to us. You can export or delete it all at any time.
Does writing a goal as done make it happen?
No app can promise that. What helps, according to research on goal pursuit, is pairing a clear picture of the finish with the obstacle in your way and a specific plan. That is exactly what the app walks you through.
What is Reverse Journaling?
